Iran, Oman near Strait of Hormuz agreement

Iran and Oman are finalizing a joint statement on the Strait of Hormuz.

Axar.az reports, citing ISNA, that Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said that talks between Iran and Oman, as the two coastal states of the Strait of Hormuz, have been underway over the past two months to establish a safe navigation route for commercial shipping.

Baghaei said the negotiations have been conducted in a "professional" and "forward-moving" manner, adding that the geographical coordinates of the route under consideration have been agreed upon.

He added that the joint statement, which includes the main points and considerations agreed upon by the two sides, is in the final stages of review and drafting.

“If certain third parties do not obstruct this process, the joint statement of the two countries will be finalized and issued,” Baghaei said
