One worker killed in Adana tunnel collapse in Turkiye

A collapse occurred in the tunnel section of a drinking water project in the Imamoglu district of Turkiye’s Adana province, killing one worker and injuring another.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that the collapse occurred during construction of the tunnel section of the Yedigoze Drinking Water Project, which is being carried out by the Adana Water and Sewerage Administration (ASKİ).

Five workers were inside the tunnel when the collapse occurred. Rescue teams from the emergency services, gendarmerie and AFAD were dispatched to the scene and evacuated the workers.

Health officials confirmed that 55-year-old worker died in the incident, while a 57-year-old was injured and taken to hospital.

An investigation into the incident has been launched.
