The UK has broken a 30-year record for the number of days in a year when temperatures reach 30 degrees Celsius or higher, as the country prepares for another heatwave.

Axar.az reports, citing Sky News, that Frittenden in Kent recorded 30.6C on Sunday, bringing the total number of days this year with temperatures of at least 30C to 35.

The previous record of 34 days was set in 1995.

Forecasters expect Monday to be slightly cooler, but temperatures could rise again next week, with highs of up to 36C forecast in parts of East Anglia and southeast England by Thursday.

The UK Health Security Agency has issued yellow heat-health alerts across several regions, including London, the South East, East of England and the Midlands.

The UK has already experienced four heatwaves this year. Two record-breaking heatwaves in May and June were linked to more than 2,800 excess deaths, while the year's highest temperature so far was 38C, recorded in Norfolk on June 28.
