Iran and the United States have held no talks on extending a 60-day ceasefire under an interim agreement.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, that a senior Iranian source said Washington must return to the interim deal reached in June and set a timetable for fulfilling its commitments.

“One of the issues that is being discussed via mediators is the U.S. returning to the interim agreement and defining a timeframe for implementing its commitments. There has been absolutely no progress on this issue,” the source said.

“There is no talk of an extension because ... the United States violated the interim agreement 48 hours after it was reached and withdrew from it a few days later,” the source added.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Sunday that Tehran and Washington were not engaged in talks and that Iran would not initiate negotiations as long as Washington violated the interim agreement. He said messages were being exchanged through intermediaries, including Pakistan and Qatar.

It should be noted that Anadolu Agency reported that the US and Iran had agreed to extend the 60-day ceasefire under the Islamabad Agreement.
