Japan protests against Putin visit to disputed Kuril islands

Japan has protested Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Iturup Island.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Japan’s Foreign Ministry made the statement.

“Today, we learned of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Iturup Island. Japan strongly protests this visit,” the statement said.

It should be noted that Putin also visited Iturup Island, part of the Kuril Islands, during his trip to Sakhalin today.
