Two seriously injured after train derailment in Sussex

A passenger train has derailed near Lewes in East Sussex, disrupting several rail routes in the area.

Axar.az, citing the BBC, that network Rail said a Southern service came off the tracks shortly before 16:00 BST.

Emergency services, including police, firefighters and paramedics, are at the scene near Lewes station.

Authorities have urged people to avoid the area, while rail passengers have been advised to allow up to 60 minutes for their journeys.

No further details about injuries or the cause of the derailment have been released.

Two people have suffered serious injuries and nine others sustained less serious injuries after a passenger train derailed in East Sussex.

According to Sky News, around 150 people were on board when the train derailed. Emergency services remain at the scene, while some injured passengers have been taken to local hospitals.

Passengers who did not require hospital treatment were taken to a nearby community centre, where they are being supported by partner agencies.

The ambulance service urged the public to avoid the area.
