Major fires break out across England’s West Midlands

Multiple fires have swept across England’s West Midlands, destroying homes and injuring residents and firefighters amid the UK’s hottest day of the year.

Axar.az reports, citing the BBC, that about 100 firefighters battled a large grass fire near Stourbridge Golf Course, which spread to six properties.

Three firefighters were taken to hospital, while six members of the public were treated for smoke inhalation and a child was also hospitalized.

Four homes were destroyed in a separate fire in Sandyford, Stoke-on-Trent. In Castle Vale, Birmingham, a woman suffered serious injuries after a fire badly damaged several homes.

A major incident was declared over a large fire in Warwickshire, while a blaze in Pershore, Worcestershire, forced the evacuation of about 30 homes before being brought under control.

Authorities urged residents to avoid affected areas and keep doors and windows closed because of smoke.
