A NATO Baltic Air Policing fighter jet shot down a foreign drone that entered Latvian airspace in Balvi Municipality.

Axar.az reports that Latvia’s Ministry of Defence said in a post on X that the drone entered Latvia as a result of Russian electronic warfare.

“In Latvian airspace, in Balvi Municipality, NATO Baltic Air Policing fighter jets have successfully shot down a foreign unmanned aerial vehicle that had entered Latvia as a result of Russian electromagnetic warfare,” the ministry said.

The ministry added that airspace threats had also been reported in the municipalities of Augsdaugava, Preili, Rezekne, Balvi and Aluksne, but the alerts ended at 04:50.

“NATO Baltic Air Policing mission fighters were scrambled in response to the threat in Latvian airspace,” the ministry added.
