Erdogan prepares major cabinet reshuffle

Turkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is preparing for major changes to his Cabinet.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir is expected to be dismissed. The move is linked to the suspension of Chinese automaker BYD’s $1 billion electric and hybrid vehicle plant project in Manisa, which caused a major crisis between Turkiye and the company.

Kacir is expected to be replaced by Haluk Gorgun, head of the Defense Industry Agency.

“Turkiye’s current Environment Minister Murat Kurum is expected to replace Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu. This change is related to the situation surrounding the implementation of the Istanbul Canal project,” the Turkish newspaper reported.

Trade Minister Omer Bolat and Youth and Sports Minister Osman Ashkin Bak are also expected to be dismissed.
