Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Iran is ready to further strengthen its comprehensive relations with India based on mutual trust and respect.

Axar.az reports, citing the presidential website, that Pezeshkian made the remarks in a message congratulating Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government and people of India on the country’s 80th Independence Day.

He described the anniversary as an opportunity to further deepen and expand the longstanding and comprehensive relations between Iran and India, emphasizing that the two countries’ deep historical, cultural and civilizational ties, as well as people-to-people contacts, provide a valuable foundation for developing bilateral relations based on shared interests.

The Iranian president said Tehran was ready to take further steps to consolidate bilateral ties and promote the two countries' shared interests by leveraging their existing capacities and building on mutual trust and respect.

Pezeshkian also expressed hope that the longstanding relations between Tehran and New Delhi would become increasingly stronger and more prosperous.
