The war in Ukraine could end unexpectedly due to a so-called “black swan” event, such as an internal crisis or upheaval in Russia.

Axar.az reports that Ukrainian serviceman, entrepreneur and banker Andriy Onistrat said this in an interview with Naspravdi.

Onistrat said he had little confidence that the war would end within the next year, although there are currently more conditions for an end to the war than there were a year ago.

At the same time, he said an unpredictable development could radically change the situation.

“I will continue to insist that we are living in a period of a black swan. In other words, a black swan is, so to speak, more likely now than before,” Onistrat said.

He recalled that he had spoken about the possibility of a “black swan” shortly before the 2023 Wagner Group mutiny led by Yevgeny Prigozhin.

“I said, ‘I have a feeling there will be a black swan.’ And then Prigozhin started marching, and they began shooting down planes and helicopters,” he said.

Onistrat added that another such unexpected event could occur in Russia, but stressed that its nature was impossible to predict.
