Pope Leo XIV has called for an end to repeated violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and urged the international community to advance efforts toward a two-state solution.

Axar.az reports, citing Vatican News, that speaking after Sunday’s Angelus, the pope appealed for an end “to the repeated acts of violence against the Palestinian population of the West Bank.”

He also called on the international community “to ensure that progress is made toward a two-state solution, for a just and lasting peace.”

The pope has repeatedly expressed support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with the Holy See describing it as the only viable path toward a just and lasting peace.

In his Angelus address, Leo also referred to the Mediterranean Games in southern Italy, expressing hope that the sporting event would serve as “a prophetic sign of peace and fraternity among the peoples of this region and of the whole world.”
