Trump says he may endorse candidate in Israeli election

US President Donald Trump said he would not currently endorse a candidate in Israel’s upcoming election but left open the possibility of supporting someone later.

Axar.az reports that Trump made the remarks in an interview with Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst.

“I think it’s most appropriate for me to stay out of Israeli elections, but I may endorse somebody,” Trump said.

Trump also said there had been progress toward Hamas disarming and argued that Israel should not currently be carrying out strikes in Gaza.

“We have our own relationship with Hamas. They are giving up their guns,” Trump said.

Israel is scheduled to hold parliamentary elections on October 27.
