Two prisoners executed in Iran’s Shiraz

Two prisoners have been executed at the Central Prison in Shiraz, Iran.

Axar.az reports, citing Iran Human Rights, that the prisoners, identified as Hassan Kordi and Mohammad Ali Pazireh, had been sentenced to death for murder in separate cases.

The executions were carried out on Sunday morning, August 16, according to the human rights organization. Two other prisoners who had been transferred for execution received a temporary reprieve and were returned to their prison ward.

The executions had not been announced by Iranian state media or official sources at the time of the report.

According to Iran Human Rights, at least 747 people were executed in Iran on murder charges in 2025.
