Turkish lawmaker Melih Meric stabbed in Gaziantep

New Party lawmaker Melih Meric has been hospitalized after being stabbed during a visit in Gaziantep, southeastern Turkiye.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that the attack took place in the Karatas neighborhood of Shahinbey district.

Meric, who represents Gaziantep in parliament, was taken to Gaziantep City Hospital by emergency teams.

Police have launched an investigation into the attack. No official information has been released about the assailant or the motive.
