Iran: Ukraine apologized for Caspian Sea vessel attack

Ukraine’s attack on an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea is considered a terrorist act in Tehran.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said in an interview with Russian media.

“It was a deliberate attack on a civilian vessel flying the Iranian flag and carrying commercial cargo. This attack is considered a terrorist and criminal act,” the diplomat said.

At the same time, he acknowledged that Ukraine’s acting Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha apologized for the incident in a conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi.

However, Jalali believes that Kyiv should compensate for the damage caused, while Ukraine’s European and American supporters should hold it accountable.

It should be noted that Ukrainian forces struck an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea with drones on July 25. One person was killed and another was injured in the attack.
