Azerbaijani activist arrested after summons in Tabriz

Milad Balsini, a Turkish Azerbaijani civil activist, was arrested following a summons to Branch 15 of the Interrogative Branch of the Tabriz Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office.

Axar.az reports, citing IranWire, that as soon as the interrogation session concluded, Ministry of Intelligence agents confronted Balsini, placed him under arrest, and took him into custody.

Previously, a legal case was opened against the civil activist by the Intelligence Office of Tabriz on charges of “sending videos, images, or information to foreign or hostile networks, influencers, or virtual pages against national security.” The case was initially referred to Branch 8 of the Assistant Prosecutor’s Office in Tabriz before being transferred to Branch 15 of the Interrogative Branch on July 28.

Information regarding Mr. Balsini’s current detention location and specific formal charges remains unavailable.
