Trump plans to meet Kim Jong Un at end of year

US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he intends to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un later this year, saying he has a good relationship with the North Korean leader.

Axar.az reports, citing CNN, that Trump stated that: “I get along with him. And you know what? The fact that I get along with him — that’s a good thing."

Trump did not say whether he had recently exchanged letters with Kim. The details of any potential fourth summit remain unclear, although US officials have considered an upcoming leaders’ summit in Asia in November as a possible opportunity for renewed diplomacy.

Trump also commented on North Korea’s nuclear arsenal, which he said stood at 57 weapons.

“If I were president, I wouldn’t have allowed it,” Trump said, blaming previous administrations for North Korea’s nuclear buildup.

“I know Kim Jong Un very well, and he’s going to be fine as long as we have a smart president,” Trump said. “He’s going to be fine. If we have a dumb president, then he’s probably not going to be so fine.”
