Extreme heat kills more than 4,400 people in Spain

More than 4,400 people have died in Spain from extreme heat between June 1 and August 19.

Axar.az reports, citing Spanish media, that a total of 4,458 heat-related deaths were recorded during the period, approaching the 4,520 deaths reported over the same period in 2022.

Heat-related deaths stood at 1,588 in 2023, 1,890 in 2024 and 3,073 in 2025.

Data also showed that 5,640 people have died in Spain from heatwaves so far this year.

Spain has experienced extreme heat since June, with temperatures exceeding 40°C several times in some regions.
