Death toll in Zimbabwe ferry accident rises to 97.

Axar.az reports that the Zimbabwe Republic Police said on X that two more bodies were recovered from the lake.

"The ZRP reports that the Kariba RIDA Boat accident death toll is now 97 after the recovery of two bodies from the lake this afternoon," the police stated.

Government official Monica Mutsvangwa previously said that the vessel, designed to carry 90 people, was carrying around 180 passengers on August 11 when the accident occurred on Lake Kariba, a reservoir on the Zambezi River.

Search and rescue operations are continuing in Lake Kariba.
