US allies fear Washington may not protect them

U.S. allies are concerned about whether Washington will be able to protect them if necessary, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Axar.az informs, citing Izvestia, that according to the newspaper, American allies began to doubt Washington's intentions after the return of Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States. Now they are also concerned about the ability of the United States to provide the necessary military support amid the consequences of the conflict with Iran.

According to the WSJ, foreign officials are paying attention to the problems of the American military-industrial complex, the inconsistency of strategic decisions and internal political differences. Against this background, they wonder whether the United States will be able to play a decisive role in the event of a simultaneous escalation of the situation in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Similar concerns, according to the newspaper, exist among representatives of the American authorities and experts.

The Pentagon and the White House deny that the American armed forces have a shortage of ammunition. At the same time, analytical institutes and experts estimate that during the fighting in the Middle East, the United States could have used up about half of the Patriot and THAAD interceptor missile stocks, as well as about a third of the Tomahawk and JASSM cruise missile stocks.

The WSJ also notes that US President Donald Trump has repeatedly rejected Kyiv's requests for additional supplies of Patriot missiles. At the same time, the Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, are opposed to the resumption of full-scale US military action against Iran, as they have limited reserves of missile defense systems.
