CIA Director John Ratcliffe is in Moscow for meetings.

Axar.az reports, citing CBS News, that his visit comes after a U.S. Air Force C-17A Globemaster III transport aircraft was spotted at a Moscow airport alongside a U.S. diplomatic motorcade.

Neither the U.S. nor Russian governments commented on the visit.

It appears to be Ratcliffe’s first known trip to Russia as CIA director. He has maintained contact with Russian intelligence officials, and the CIA has played a role in recent U.S.-Russia prisoner exchanges.

The visit comes as U.S.-mediated peace talks between Russia and Ukraine remain largely stalled, with the two sides still divided over key issues.
