SpaceX to build $100 billion Starbase facility

American billionaire Elon Musk’s SpaceX announced plans Tuesday to build a $100 billion facility in Louisiana to launch its Starship megarockets.

Axar.az reports, citing the company’s official website, that the Starship rockets are currently being developed at the company’s Starbase facility in Texas.

The new facility will be built in Vermilion Parish, about 115 miles (185 kilometers) west of New Orleans.

“A spaceport on the Louisiana Gulf Coast enabling a multiplanetary future,” SpaceX said on its website.

“We’re committed to investing at least $100 billion and creating more than 3,000 new jobs at Starbase, Louisiana,” the company said. Construction is scheduled to begin next year.

SpaceX said the project will include not only launch pads but also the infrastructure needed to support “thousands of Starship flights per year.” The first launch from the new facility is expected in 2029.
