Trump says CIA chief's Moscow visit 'semi-routine'

US President Donald Trump has dismissed speculation surrounding CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s recent visit to Moscow, describing the trip as “semi-routine” and saying it was not related to the various theories circulating about the mission.

Axar.az reports that, speaking to conservative radio host Glenn Beck, Trump said Ratcliffe was not in Moscow for any of the reasons suggested in recent speculation.

“He's there on a very sort of semi-routine visit. I hate to disappoint people… John Ratcliffe is a fantastic guy. He's the head of CIA, and he is not in there for any of the things that you said,” Trump said.

“Now, something may come out of it. We're working very hard to get that war ended, and frankly, they both want to see it ended at this point,” he added, referring to the Russia-Ukraine war.

The Kremlin has confirmed that Ratcliffe held talks with Russian intelligence officials during his Moscow visit but said he did not meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin was briefed on the outcome of the talks, according to the Kremlin.
