Trump rules out talks or meetings with Iranian officials

US President Donald Trump said Thursday that Washington is not holding talks with Iran as the US focuses on increasing economic pressure on Tehran.

Axar.az reports, citing CNN, that Trump made the remarks to reporters at the White House.

“There’s not a lot to speak to. We don’t want to speak to them. We’re not looking to meet or anything,” Trump said.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the US campaign would continue until Iran agrees to meaningful negotiations.

"No negotiations are happening right now and this will continue until the president feels that maybe they come to the table in a meaningful way. We have not seen that yet,” Leavitt said.

Asked whether Chinese banks could also face sanctions for dealing with Iran, Trump said he did not have to announce every action in advance.
