A forest fire broke out near the city center of Fethiye in Turkiye’s Mugla province on Friday evening, with strong winds fanning the flames toward residential areas.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that the fire started near Karagedik neighborhood at around 7:30 p.m.

After residents reported smoke to the emergency services, numerous firefighting and forestry teams were dispatched to the area.

The flames spread rapidly through the forest due to strong winds, prompting intensified efforts to prevent the fire from reaching nearby homes.

Firefighting crews are battling the blaze from both the ground and the air.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Authorities are closely monitoring the fire and the risk it poses to surrounding residential areas.
