The death toll from floods in northern Nepal has reached 616, Nepal Police said, correcting an earlier figure of 626.

Axar.az reports, citing the BBC, according to the latest police report, 2,301 people have been injured or rescued.

Chinese state media has separately reported seven deaths in Tibet. If the figures do not overlap, the overall death toll from the disaster would be at least 623.

The death toll from landslides and floods in Nepal’s border region with China has risen to 668, Sky News reported.

Police said 668 bodies had been recovered from the affected areas. The highest number of deaths was recorded in Chitwan, with 248, followed by Nawalparasi East with 158 and Nawalparasi West with 65.

The toll also includes 54 deaths in Gorkha, 49 in Dhading, 49 in Nuwakot, 31 in Tanahun and 13 in Rasuwa.

The figures listed by police account for 667 bodies, leaving one death unaccounted for in the breakdown.

Around 2,500 people remain missing following the deadly floods and landslides.
