Turkish authorities have sent the investigation file into the 2011 death of former National Intelligence Organization (MIT) official Kasif Kozinoglu to the Unsolved Crimes department for reevaluation.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that Kozinoglu, the former head of MIT’s Foreign Operations Department, died in Silivri Prison on November 12, 2011, after falling ill while in custody.

An investigation at the time concluded that he had died of natural causes.

According to the report, the decision to re-examine the case was made following a review of the existing investigation file.

The Unsolved Crimes department will reassess information and documents already in the file, as well as any new evidence that may have emerged.

The review will seek to determine whether there are any criminal elements connected to Kozinoglu's death and examine the circumstances surrounding it in full.

It should be recalled that Kozinoglu was arrested as part of an investigation conducted by former FETO-linked prosecutor Zekeriya Oz.
