IDF struck Hamas commander in Deir al-Balah

The Israeli military said Saturday it had struck a Hamas military wing commander in the Deir al-Balah area of the Gaza Strip who was planning attacks against Israeli troops and civilians.

Axar.az reports, citing the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), that the commander had recently advanced attacks and was working to restore Hamas’ capabilities in systematic violations of the ceasefire.

The IDF said the commander was hiding inside the compound of Shuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital, accusing Hamas of using medical facilities for terrorist activities.

“Prior to the strike, steps were taken to mitigate the risk to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance,” the military said.

The IDF said Israeli forces remain deployed in the area under the Southern Command in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to act against what it considers immediate threats.
