Taliban delegation in Germany to prepare Afghan deportations

A three-member Taliban delegation has secretly arrived in Germany to prepare further deportations of Afghan nationals.

Axar.az reports, citing NDR TV, that the delegation arrived Wednesday after traveling from Kabul via Qatar, where its members obtained 30-day German visas.

They are staying at the Afghan Embassy in Berlin and are due to travel to Bonn and Munich next week, where Afghan consulates are located.

Germany’s Foreign Ministry confirmed the delegation’s presence and said the visit was linked to plans for further deportations to Afghanistan. The ministry described the three members as a “technical support team” tasked with quickly establishing the technical requirements for the removals, including issuing documents recognized by the Taliban.

Two Taliban consular officials had already entered Germany last year and now effectively head the Afghan diplomatic missions in Berlin and Bonn, according to NDR.

The German government has said their role is to provide consular services to Afghans abroad and facilitate deportations to Afghanistan.
