Russia’s Interior Ministry Migration Service has used new technology to identify foreigners violating migration laws during a raid at a Moscow metro station.

Axar.az reports, citing the ministry's Telegram channel, that authorities said around 140 foreigners were identified within several hours.

All were detained and taken to police stations.

According to the ministry, administrative violation protocols were drawn up against each person, with fines imposed. The detainees are expected to be expelled from Russia and subsequently barred from re-entering the country.

The operation involved the Interior Ministry’s Migration Service, its Migration Affairs Center, and police from Moscow and the Moscow region, including the Moscow Metro Police Department.

The ministry said the technology is part of a specialized system deployed across transport and infrastructure facilities in Russia, including airports, railway stations, river ports and public transport.

It said similar operations would be conducted regularly in Moscow and other Russian regions.
