N. Korea replaces defense minister in military reshuffle

North Korea has replaced its defense minister in a reshuffle of senior military leadership.

Axar.az reports, citing Yonhap News Agency, that Kim Song-gi, director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army, has been appointed defense minister, replacing No Kwang-chol.

No was removed from his post as defense minister and from the central leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK). He was instead appointed first vice-director of the WPK Central Committee's Munitions Industry Department.

The reshuffle was decided at the second meeting of the ninth WPK Central Military Commission on Saturday, which was overseen by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
