Two Druze commanders injured in clashes in Syria’s Suweida

Two commanders of the Druze National Guard militia were injured in clashes in Syria’s Suweida city.

Axar.az reports, citing The New Arab, that Rami Ishti, a leader in the militia’s security office, and another commander, Ghaith Qantar, were wounded by gunfire as fighting continued in the city.

The National Guard sent reinforcements to Suweida after the two commanders took refuge in a building in the city center.

The cause of the clashes and the total number of casualties were not immediately clear.

The fighting comes amid continued tensions and lawlessness in Suweida, which has remained outside the control of the Syrian government.

The armed incident marked the fourth violation of the ceasefire in the province since the beginning of this year. The ceasefire was declared across the province following intercommunal clashes in July 2025.

More than 1,600 people were killed in those clashes.
