We will do everything to stop this (the war) as soon as possible.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Russian President Vladimir Putin made the statement during a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Only, unfortunately, the opposing side, the leadership of Ukraine, announced its rejection of the negotiation process and stated that it wants to achieve its goals by military means," Putin said.

He added that Russia was moving in the direction of ending the conflict as soon as possible.

Modi raised the issue of resolving the Ukraine conflict, stressing the importance of a peaceful settlement and the need to take steps in that direction.
