A last-minute warning gave a Nepal school just 14 minutes to evacuate more than 900 students and 16 staff members before devastating flash floods destroyed the building.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, that the school's accountant received a call from a relative in Rasuwa, where the flooding had begun, and rushed to warn the school. “The flood is coming, the flood is coming!” he shouted.

Students were evacuated by buses, parents on motorbikes and on foot to higher ground. The school headmaster Rajendra Dawadi said the school was later swept away and its site is now part of the riverbed.

At least one school staff member and the accountant's mother remain missing, he said.
