One killed, seven injured in Russian gas pipeline accident

One person was killed and seven others injured in an accident during pipeline testing at the Kovykta gas-condensate field in Russia’s Irkutsk region.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that the injured men were hospitalized in moderate condition and are receiving medical treatment.

The Kovykta field is one of the largest gas-condensate fields in Eastern Siberia and serves as the main resource base for the Irkutsk gas production center. It is also used to supply gas via the Power of Siberia pipeline.

The cause of the explosion is unknown. The incident occurred during testing operations.
