Germany will close Russia’s Consulate General in Bonn and terminate its agreement with the Russian House in Berlin following an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport.

Axar.az reports, citing Die Welt, that Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said police investigations, the pattern of the incident and intelligence findings "clearly point to Russian involvement in the planned, carried out and also thwarted hybrid operations."

Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said the Bonn consulate would close on September 18. Germany will also tighten entry controls for Russian nationals, increase pressure on Russia’s shadow fleet and summon the Russian ambassador.

“Our message to Russia’s leadership is clear: We will not allow ourselves to be divided or intimidated by Russia’s attacks,” Wadephul said.

Dobrindt warned that Germany remains a target of Russian hybrid warfare, while Wadephul pledged continued support for Ukraine.

Russia said it would respond to Germany’s measures with “mirror” actions and accused Berlin of supporting terrorism.
