Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that by adopting the law on Armenia’s accession to the European Union, the country had effectively abandoned the idea of holding a referendum.
Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, that he stated this during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
Putin, meanwhile, said that the Armenian authorities should give the people of the country the opportunity to make a choice regarding joining the European Union and settle the issue.
