Germany will provide Ukraine with new air defense packages this month as Kyiv faces an intensifying Russian drone campaign.

Axar.az reports, citing Kyiv Post, that Ukraine is expected to receive additional missiles for its IRIS-T air defense systems as early as September, while Germany also plans to deliver several thousand attack drones to Kyiv.

Germany has been a key supplier of air defense systems to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, including Patriot and IRIS-T systems.

The two leaders also discussed a planned drone cooperation agreement. Teams from both countries are finalizing the deal, which is expected to expand cooperation in drone production and technology and strengthen the defense capabilities of both countries.

Zelensky and Merz also agreed to meet in person.
