US would not allow NATO to support Turkiye against Israel

Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said NATO would not support Turkiye in the event of a conflict with Israel, arguing that the United States would prevent the alliance from acting against its key partner.

Axar.az reports that, in an Interview with RT, Zakharova said: “NATO’s actions are dictated by the United States. The U.S. has repeatedly stated, including under Trump, that the degree of alliance between the United States and Israel is absolutely extraordinary."

She added: "But the point is that this is a special type of alliance — it is literally an absolute unity of the two countries, especially in the areas of security and international politics."

Asked whether Turkiye could count on NATO support if tensions with Israel escalated, Zakharova said the decisive role would be played by Washington.

“The Americans, having the decisive voice in NATO, will determine whether they allow the alliance to act against a country they consider not simply an ally, but something more,” she said.
