Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari​ said that Iranian strikes also targeted civilian areas, not only US bases.

Axar.az reports that al-Ansari stated on his X account that official documents submitted by Qatar to the UN show that Iranian missiles struck civilian, commercial, and residential areas, causing damage and injuring 16 people.

A separate Qatari letter dated July 20 documented further attacks that injured three people, including a child.

He said a security risk assessment cited by Iran was prepared for operational purposes ahead of an International Telecommunication Union conference and was not a comprehensive record of events or a legal assessment. According to al-Ansari, the document itself acknowledges direct attacks inside Qatar, including the March 18 attack on gas facilities in Ras Laffan, as well as the temporary closure of the airspace and disruption to civilian life.

Al-Ansari also said Qatar had officially documented the attack on the Ras Laffan gas facilities in a letter to the UN and rejected descriptions of the incident as “alleged.”

"It is regrettable that the attack on Ras Laffan is described as “alleged” despite having been officially documented in the State of Qatar’s letter No. S/2026/207, particularly since these facilities are an asset of the Qatari people and a key component of the global energy security system," al-Ansari stated.

He said Qatar would continue its diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and strengthening security and stability in the region.
