U.S. negotiators made “substantive progress” during visits to Moscow and Kyiv aimed at facilitating dialogue to end the Russia-Ukraine war, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said Monday.

Axar.az reports that Witkoff stated on his X account that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to a three-day “no-shoot policy” ahead of the trip to allow the discussions to take place.

"Substantive progress was made, including movement on scheduling additional trilateral talks. President Trump is working hard to stop the killing and work towards a lasting and durable peace," he wrote.

He said he, Jared Kushner and U.S. officials from the National Security Council, State Department and Treasury met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss each side’s proposals.

In Kyiv, the U.S. delegation was also joined by national security advisers from the UK, Germany and France.

It should be noted that the US representatives held talks at the Kremlin on September 5 and in Kyiv on September 6.
