Armenia has filed a complaint with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) over restrictions imposed by Russia on Armenian products, Deputy Economy Minister Tigran Gasparyan said Tuesday.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, that Gasparyan said Yerevan was using mechanisms available within the EAEU to seek the removal of the restrictions.

“Here, not only our communication with Russia is important, but also the opportunities available to us within the EAEU, because there are specific mechanisms that can be applied to remove such obstacles. We are actively using these opportunities. We have lodged a complaint and hope and are confident that the mechanisms will work so that the obstacles are removed,” Gasparyan said.

He said Armenia believes the restrictions do not comply with agreements and principles established within the EAEU.

“In our opinion, the obstacles do not comply with the agreements and principles reached within the EAEU framework. That is why we are working to ensure that the EAEU operates in accordance with its principles,” Gasparyan said.
