CEO of the Ushkuynik Research and Production Center Alexey Chadayev, said Russia has developed the Krechet, a high-speed fixed-wing anti-drone interceptor capable of reaching speeds of up to 450 km/h and intercepting enemy drones.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Chadayev made the announcement on September 10.

“The Krechet, Russia’s fastest fixed-wing anti-drone interceptor, has been unveiled for the first time. It is powered by two electric motors and can reach speeds of up to 450 kilometers per hour,” Chadayev said.

He said the interceptor is launched from a catapult and its reverse-swept wing design allows it to maneuver more effectively, particularly at low speeds. Once the anti-drone catches up with a UAV, it must accurately hit the target as the drone attempts to evade interception.

“Thanks to its speed, the interceptor does not need to be deployed in fire teams or on mobile platforms. It can quickly reach the flight path of an enemy drone, get behind it and carry out the interception,” the head of the research center explained.

Chadayev also said a warhead can be installed on the interceptor, but this is not necessary because it can effectively destroy targets through kinetic impact. He added that the Krechet’s mass and speed are sufficient to destroy Lyutyi-type drones, which can reach speeds of up to 200 km/h.

The model will be presented for the first time at the International Technology Congress, which is being held from September 8 to 10 at Patriot Park.
