Herzog hopes for trilateral meeting with Cyprus, Lebanon

Israeli President Isaac Herzog said Thursday that he hoped to one day meet with the president of Lebanon, during a visit to Cyprus and talks with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides.

Axar.az reports, citing the Jerusalem Post, that Herzog praised Cyprus as a friend of Israel and said he hoped to further strengthen ties between the two countries.

“I believe that we should move toward peace in our region while making sure that terror is shunned and removed, and that life thrives between nations and peoples for the well-being of the entire region and the world,” Herzog said.

Christodoulides said he looked forward to discussing ways to enhance their strategic partnership in tourism, trade, security, energy and defense, as well as regional developments and cooperation to promote stability and security.
