Baramidze detained on high treason and sabotage

Giorgi Baramidze, one of the leaders of Georgia’s United National Movement (UNM) and a former deputy prime minister, has been detained and charged with high treason and sabotage.

Axar.az reports, citing Georgian media, that Baramidze was detained pursuant to a court order.

Baramidze faces up to four years in prison if convicted.

The investigation is ongoing.
