The US Treasury Department has removed Turkish company Modulsan Makina Kesici Takim ve Disli Sanayi Ticaret Limited Sirketi from its Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List.

Axar.az reports, citing the US Treasury, that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced the removal on September 16 as part of updates to its SDN List.

The Istanbul-based company, established in 2006, had been designated under the Russia-related sanctions imposed pursuant to Executive Order 14024.

OFAC also removed Swiss national Hans Peter Bomatter, who had been designated under the same Russia-related sanctions program.

The Treasury Department did not provide a reason for the removals in its announcement.

Meanwhile, on September 16, the US House of Representatives approved, in a procedural vote, a bill that would tighten sanctions against Russia. A total of 214 lawmakers voted in favor of the bill, while 211 Democrats voted against it.

Democratic leaders in the House opposed the sanctions bill, although several members of the party broke ranks and voted in favor.
