Turkish Presidential Chief Adviser Mehmet Ucum has said that Abdullah Ocalan will be given a role in the Disarmament and Strategic Coordination Subcommittee established as part of the “Terror-Free Turkiye” process.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that Ucum said the subcommittee was one of four created under the law on strengthening national solidarity and social integration.

He said Ocalan’s role should not be interpreted as a step toward his release, adding that a residence linked to Imrali Prison had been established as an additional unit to allow him to better carry out his role in the process.

“[It] is a dialogue process conducted with Ocalan. The objective is the elimination of the terrorist organization,” Ucum said.

He also said Ocalan was the interlocutor on the issue of terrorism, arguing that whoever founded the organization should be responsible for dissolving it.
