Sheinbaum: Mexico working toward trade deal with Trump

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said her government is working to reach a trade deal with the United States soon following a “very good” phone call with US President Donald Trump.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, that Sheinbaum said some agreements were reached during Wednesday’s call. She said progress was being made toward a potential bilateral agreement as Washington and Mexico City seek to conclude a deal before the November 3 US midterm elections.

“We are doing everything we can, within the framework of sovereignty, respect, and what is best for Mexico, to reach a deal soon,” Sheinbaum said.

Mexico is seeking lower US tariffs on Mexican steel, aluminum, and automobiles.
