Russian opposition politician Ilya Yashin has cancelled his planned trip to Armenia after receiving a warning about a possible physical threat.

Axar.az reports that Yashin said in a Telegram post that he was in Washington attending the “Washington Dialogue” conference when he was warned about unspecified risks linked to his planned trip to Yerevan.

“However, while I was in Washington, I was warned about certain risks related to my trip to Armenia. I cannot disclose the details, but the issue concerns a physical threat,” Yashin said.

He had planned to attend the “Noon for a Peaceful Russia” campaign in Yerevan on September 20 and meet with members of the Russian anti-war community.

“Unfortunately, I cannot ignore this information and am forced to follow security protocols. Therefore, the trip to Armenia is postponed, and my participation in the events planned there is cancelled,” Yashin said.

Yashin added that he would remain in the United States and planned to visit a polling station near the Russian consulate in New York at noon on September 20 as part of the campaign.
